Privacy Policy
Effective October 16, 2026
The short version: we collect only what we need to run the game and save your progress. We don't sell your information, we don't show ads, and we'll only email you if you tick the box asking us to.
Music Matrix ("Music Matrix", "we", "us") is a daily music puzzle game available at musicmatrixgame.com. This policy explains what information we collect when you play, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
When you play as a guest. So that your results and streaks work from your first puzzle, we create an anonymous account for your browser. It has a random ID and no name or email attached.
When you create an account. If you sign in with Google, we receive your Google account's name, email address and profile ID from Google. We do not receive your Google password, contacts or any other Google data. If you sign up with email, we store your email address; your password is handled by our sign-in provider and is never visible to us.
Your game activity. We save your puzzle results (score, date, attempts), your stats and streaks, and a record of how each puzzle was played (for example, which tiles were moved and how long each row took). We use this to keep your history and to understand which puzzles are too easy or too hard.
Your email preference. If you tick "Email me about new features and new games", we store that choice, your email address and the date you agreed. You can change this at any time.
Information stored on your device. We save an unfinished puzzle in your browser's local storage so a refresh doesn't lose your place. This stays on your device and is removed when you finish the puzzle or after 30 days.
Technical information. Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically receives basic technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested. Our fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which also receives your IP address and browser information.
We do not use advertising trackers, and we do not collect payment information. (If paid features are added in the future, payments will be handled by a payment processor and we will update this policy.)
How we use your information
- To run the game: show puzzles, save your results, stats and streaks, and keep them in sync across your devices.
- To enforce the game's rules, such as each puzzle being playable once per account.
- To show all-player statistics, such as a puzzle's average score. These are totals only and never show who played.
- To improve the puzzles, for example by finding clues that most players get wrong.
- To email you about new features and new games, only if you opted in. Every email will include a way to unsubscribe.
- To keep the service secure and fix problems.
How we share information
We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers. We share information only:
- With service providers that run the game for us: Google Firebase (sign-in, database and website hosting) and, if you opt in to email, the email service we use to send announcements. They may only use your information to provide their services to us.
- If required by law, or to protect the rights, safety or security of our players or the service.
- If Music Matrix is transferred to a new owner, in which case this policy will continue to apply to your information.
How long we keep information
We keep your account and game history for as long as your account exists, so your stats stay complete. Guest accounts that are no longer used may be deleted. If you ask us to delete your account, we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except where we must keep something to meet a legal obligation. All-player totals that don't identify you may be kept.
Your choices and rights
- Email: turn email updates on or off in the Account panel, or use the unsubscribe link in any email.
- Access, correction or deletion: email us at hello@musicmatrixgame.com from the address on your account and we will help you see, correct or delete your information.
- Sign out: signing out leaves your account and its history safe; your browser becomes a new guest.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act or the EU/UK GDPR, including the right to know what we hold about you and to ask us to delete it. You can exercise these rights by contacting us, and we will not treat you differently for doing so.
Children
Music Matrix is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We use established providers and access controls to protect your information. No online service can guarantee perfect security, but we work to keep your information safe and to collect as little as we need.
Where information is processed
Music Matrix is operated from the United States, and our service providers may store information in the United States or other countries.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the game changes. If we make a significant change, we will update the date at the top and, where appropriate, let you know in the game or by email.
